Yavne is situated in the shore plain, 8 km NW to Rehovot and south to Tel-Aviv on road 40. Named after the ancient city of Yavne or Yavne'el (Joshua 15:1-11). Est. 1949. Pop. 30,000. In my visit there was only the national flag on the city hall. My inquiries were answered that in case of need the emblem is printed on various colours. Here is an image of emblem on white which until further confirmation is only a probable one. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 3831, 3 January 1991, replacing the previous one of the Local Council Yavne (YP 854, 15 June 1961).
